Music (Production Blog)

Hey bloggers it me back again with another blog. Today we get into our music for our movie. Now initially, music was the last thing on my mind for this film. I knew the clip would be short for one. Two I knew the script we had was important so music would almost get in the way. But after studying more and more films in our genre we noticed sound is important. Licensed songs that you would normally have in your playlist were rarely used. However sound was definitely a big factor. It was used to add suspense and mystery within the film. So with learning this I started to look at certain sounds that my group could use. I ended up using the tried and true method of using YouTube. I searched up "thriller sounds free". Too my surprise this was a popular niche on the website. As some of the videos had millions of views. Some having 20 million+ views . I ended up finding a channel that had a playlist of free thriller and horror movie sounds. All of which were royalty free. Which was great for my group because we couldn't have a proper timeline set up when asking to use copyrighted music. If the artist we contacted didn't respond in time then my group would be in trouble. So this was definitely a plus for my group. The playlist I found had around 34 videos ranging in length from 5 mins to 3 seconds. I knew I wasn't the main editor in our group. So I sent the playlist to Tiyana. When we finished filming and editing I knew she'd have a better idea of what sounds to use in our film. Thanks for tuning in to another blog and until next time my fellow bloggers!
