Movie Conventions: Five Nights at Freddy's

Image
- What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? The movie was very standard in the conventions used. Nothing new or extraordinary used to help convey and shock or fear. Some of the conventions were dim lighting, low angles, high angles, tilts, over the shoulder shots, props, makeup/fake blood, and specific sets.  - What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you like? Although the movies conventions were nothing special it did have some that I did like. The movie constantly cut to flashbacks of the main characters past. Which with every flashback helped develop the story a little more each time. At the same time setting up characters for the final fight scene of the movie. Another convention I liked was the Low-Key lighting. This was mostly used in the abandoned arcade scenes throughout the movie. This added to the spookiness and ominousness of the whole atmosphere - What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did ...

 - Common camera Angles: Some common camera angles I noticed were low angles and high angles. High angles were a little more prevalent however. These angles were good at conveying fear and well the thrill needed in this genre. Dutch angles gave a feeling of something ominous. Finally Eye-level angles were used to show emotion in someone's eyes which was typically fear.  - Camera Movements: Tracking was very common and it was used to follow a certain character. Pans and tilts were used to things like characters and scenes. However Tracking and even zooms were more common throughout. - Camera Shots: There are a many number of shots I noticed during my research. They include establishing shots, wide shots, medium close-ups, long shots, medium shots, close-ups, extreme close ups, over the shoulder shots, arial shots, and finally two-shots. These shots combined with slow pace helped to build the suspense.  - Common Costumes: Most costumes would be typical outfits based on the ...

Our Pitch  Pitch A: A friend gets murdered during a friend group trip. The friend group has to find out who the murderer is before it's too late and the killer strikes again. Pitch B: In a old western setting a crook is robbing cities blind. The sheriff has the chance to stop this world renowned thief in their tracks can they do it?  Pitch A discussion: I would want to do pitch A because I think it would be a funny movie. Despite the pitch we have the potential to add some comedy within the film. I also like how the movie doesn't take too much extra props or costumes to create it. All settings used can be easily found within our group making things easy. I also think we won't to act as hard in this film and just have to act natural.  Pitch B discussion: While I do enjoy cowboys and old western settings and shows. I can already see how difficult making this film would be. Even if it was just the first two minutes on the screen. The setting alone would be hard to port...

Group Blog

Hey bloggers its me Aj and I'm back with another blog. Today we get into who I'm working with for this upcoming project. We also get into why I chose these two people in general. I'm e cstatic to be working with Tiyana Smith who I sit with in class and I've known for 2 years. As well as Suse who I'm in 3 classes with already and have slowly but surely gotten to know. I chose to work with them because me and Tiyana had worked together in a group last year for another class. We work well together and have good chemistry. I also believe that Tiyana is a good leader as well as the fact that she keeps me honest. We chose to work with Suse because she is a very hard worker. I know this because of the other Aice class we share together and the math class we share. Together we all have good chemistry and just overall work well as a team. We've done a few projects before and we were able to get things done. Compromises like this are another reason why I decided to work ...
