Movie Conventions research: The Guilty (2021)


-  What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this

movie have? 

The movie is considered a crime thriller similar how our movie is based around a crime. The movie was also shot in only one location. Similar to how our clip will be. The Movie utilizes close-up shots very frequently as well. On top of that flat and simple lighting is used for the earlier scenes of the film later on low-key lighting is used. 

• What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?

I liked the low-key lighting and the close-up shots. 

• What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

The wider shots at the beginning of the movie are what didn't appeal to me the most. They weren't necessarily bad they just didn't exemplify thriller elements as well as some of the later shots in the film did.

Within our video filming process we learned a lot about different conventions such as high angles, tracking shots, and a variety of other shots like being shot, middle shot, MCU shot, medium long shot and close up shot.
